I have carpal tunnel do to an operation i had that weakened my left side, and trying to build my strength up i got carpal tunnel. The brace has not helped so my options are shots, or operation. I hate neddles and here it's painful. Suggestions, ideas, or experiences?
My nana had the operation. she said she lost the feeling in two of the fingers on that particular hand for quite some time, but is now getting the feeling back. Other than that, she said it was worth it. She no longer has to wear the brace.
ah, the brace does nothing for me..
I've heard it doesn't work like it should.
Injections have the biggest success rate according to both medical journals and my experience. They're painful, but it's worth it. Only 55% of all surgeries succeed compared to 92% with the needles.

Well the shots are working very well for me.
Glad you chose the sensible option
I had the operation on both hands this year, not at the same time of course. I've had excellent results.
how long did it take you to recover?
Hate to give a choice as to whether surgery or brace would be a better option. I'm not suffering the symptoms, but I saw this problem quite a bit more when I lived & worked in Florida than I see here, but there are some natural suggestions that if nothing else might help you avoid aggravating the problem.
Do you do work that involves a lot of typing? There are pads to elevate your hands & wrists to take the strain off the injury. Some behaviors that may seem irrelevant actually make the problem worse as they affect all systems of the body, but try to keep body weight within the limit for your height & build, keep fingernails a reasonable length, and avoid smoking. I suspect I saw more workers with this problem because as a rule there are more overweight & severely overweight people in the south as a rule, and a lot of women put extensions on their nails, which made it more difficult on their hands with the kind of work we do, but if you avoid a lot of excess weight, smoking and excessively long nails, if nothing else you probably won't make the problem worse. Good luck whichever option you choose!
Mine is a strange and odd situation. :)
all the best. hugs.
